There has been a lot of
speculation regarding the technical specifications, the Android version, the
manufacturers and the release date of the much awaited Nexus 5. Now that the device
is finally official, the question remains as to when it will be available in
India.
Recent news leaks have
mentioned 18st November 2013 as the final launch date. In India,
Diwali is celebrated in the first week of November this year and with 1st
November being Dhanteras. For Indians, Dhanteras is an extremely auspicious day
in terms of making new investments, new purchases for the home and also for
buying gold and silver. Hence, the Nexus
5 will definitely be under consideration for those who are looking to buy a
high class Android phone, and Google has mentioned that it intends to launch
the device in India before the end of the festive season.
What is it
that makes the Google Nexus 5 an eagerly awaited device? In one word, it is affordability. The Nexus 5 offers the same features as devices like the LG G2 for a fraction of the cost.
The Nexus 4 was
manufactured by LG, and has continued to do so with the Nexus 5. The device
features cutting edge specifications at an extremely affordable price. Codenamed
Hammerhead, the Nexus 5 comes with a 2.3 GHz quad-core processor along with 2
GB RAM and Adreno 330 under its hood. The large 5-inch display will support
full HD 1920x1080p resolution which is something that hard core gamers and
movie buffs can look forward to. The Nexus 5 comes with an 8 MP rear camera as
well. The device comes with its own printing options and will also allow users
to save the images in the PDF format on the device itself.
Apart from introducing
a completely new user interface, the latest version of Android, Android 4.4
KitKat, also comes with an SMS function for the Google Hangouts app. Similar to
Moto X, the Google Now app in the Nexus 5 will also offer the 'always-on'
functionality. Google Now will also accept commands in several other languages
besides English. Being a true-blue Android device, the Nexus 5 also comes
preloaded with plenty of useful apps including Google Drive. Wireless charging
and NFC, two integral functionalities from Nexus 4, also continue in the Nexus
5.
As for the price range
in India, Google mentioned that the 16 GB Nexus 5 will be priced at Rs. 28,999,
while the 32 GB version will cost Rs. 32,999.
