Launched on 29th June, the Micromax Canvas Lite A92 is
a mid range dual SIM smartphone that is priced at Rs 7,499 in India. The Xolo Q700 was released just a month before, in May 2013. Both these phones
flaunt similar features and come under the budget segment aimed at users
desiring a feature-rich phone with premium looks, large display, superior
performance and more at a budget price. So which of these smartphones from local
manufacturers has it to woo the customers?
Dimensions:
The Canvas Lite measures 147 x 77 x 10.8 mm and the
Xolo Q700 is a bit shorter in length but slimmer at 135.8 x 67.5 x 10.19 mm.
The Canvas Lite is indeed lightweight at 130 gm as compared to the Xolo Q700
which weighs 151 gm.
Hardware:
Both these smartphones run on Android Jelly Bean OS.
The only difference being that the Canvas Lite supports the Android 4.1.2 OS
version while the Xolo Q700 runs on Android 4.2 OS.
The Micromax Canvas Lite A92 features a 1 GHz dual
core MediaTek 6577 processor with 512 MB RAM. With a PowerVR SGX GPU inside,
the Canvas Lite A92 offers a decent graphics performance. Among other features,
this smartphone also includes Proximity, Light and G sensors.
The Xolo Q700 operates on the 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex A7
MTK6589W-M quad core processor with 1 GB of RAM for effortless multitasking. For
seamless graphics, the handset has the PowerVR SGX544 clocked at 238 MHz
frequency. The phone is equipped with sensors like Magnetometer, Accelerometer,
Proximity sensor and an Ambient light sensor which automatically adjusts the
screen settings.
Display:
The Xolo Q700 boasts a 4.5-inch IPS display with qHD
resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. The display is covered by a thinner and clearer
OGS touchscreen panel. The touch panel supports up to five multi touch points.
The display bears a qHD resolution of 540 x 960 pixels.
The Micromax Canvas Lite A92 features a 5 inch IPS
touch screen WVGA display with 480 x 854 pixels resolution.
Storage:
Both these handsets come with 4 GB onboard
memory that is expandable up to 32 GB via microSD card.
Camera:
The Canvas Lite and the Xolo Q700 feature a 5 MP rear
camera with autofocus and a 0.3 MP front camera with LED flash and up to 720p
video recording. The Xolo smartphone camera includes a BSI sensor that helps capture
better photos and videos in low light.
Connectivity:
The Canvas Lite supports multiple connectivity options
which include 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, micro USB and 2G. For connectivity, the Xolo
Q700 supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and 3G connections, USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 3.0
for data transfer and sharing.
Battery:
The Micromax Canvas Lite A92 has a 2,000 mAh battery
that provides up to 6 hours of talk time on a 2G network and up to 240 hours of
standby time.
The Xolo Q700 is equipped with a 2400 mAh battery that
is capable of delivering up to 6 to 10 hours of talk time based upon the usage.
Overall, Xolo feels like it has done a much better job
with the Q700 than Micromax has with the Canvas Lite. The Q700 feels more
robust and sturdy, and offers more to the budget buyer in terms of value for money.
