If we want a
powerful smartphone, we might have to dig deep down in our pockets. Or maybe
not. We’ve been used to seeing how the mobile phone market pretty much runs by
the principle “what’s good is expensive”, but Lenovo has other things on its
mind. No, we aren’t talking about their notebooks, but about the smartphones
they have to offer and even though they might be seen as newbies in this area,
they know what they are doing. These guys
thought: let’s make a good and affordable smartphone featuring a quad core
processor. So they did and we thank them for that. The Lenovo A706 smartphone
is their proposal and with a Rs. 15,949 price, you won’t want to miss it when
it hits the stores. The quad core
power, running on Android Jelly Bean 4.1, makes it run faster and smoother when
multitasking, offering a better performance all-around. Lenovo A706 features a
1 GHz quad core Snapdragon 200 MSM8225Q processor and 1GB RAM which makes the
device decidedly fast.
It’s smaller in size than previous
Lenovo smartphone releases, with a 4.5-inch display and a resolution of 854 x
480 pixels. Still, don’t be discouraged
by the display size, because it compensates with 16 M colors, enhancing the
experience of playing games or watching movies. Also, while the internal memory
is only of 4GB, you can increase it with the usage of microSD cards. The 5.3 MP
rear camera and the 0.3 front camera are quite standard, although adding
various shooting options, like continuous and flash shooting are very welcome.
Lenovo
A706 has a 2000 mAh Li–Ion battery and users can rejoice, since it has 22 hours
talk time and 550 hours standby time, which is encouraging. Sadly, push mail
messages are unavailable, MMS and email being the only options. As for the
connectivity, it includes USB 2.0, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPRS, EDGE and Wi-Fi
Hotspot. Dual SIM
is available as well, if you can’t help but use two phone numbers. QWERTY keypad
is available, making typing faster and it operates on a dual-band GSM 900/ 1800
MHz frequency.
Because
Lenovo A706 is more entertainment-oriented, you will be happy to hear that you
can experience the audio through Dolby Digital Plus, offering a surround sound
quality of the highest caliberand a powerful
speaker, rendering crystal-clear sound.While the
release date in India is still unknown, it’s anticipated to be in stores soon,
since there are already various websites listing its price and the specifications
are available in full. For a mid-range smartphone, the Lenovo A706 does make
quite an impression and, once again, we receive further proof that when people
underestimate companies like Lenovo, which despite being new in this, do have a
great deal of overall technology experience, they prove them wrong each and
every time.In India’s busy
telecom market, there are clear winners and frontrunners, but among Samsung,
Nokia and HTC, there is a place available for Lenovo as well and it should be
to no surprise if the A706 will run out of stock soon after its release. LenovoA706 price in India is around Rs 15,000.
